John O'Nolan has quickly become one of my favorite people to study.
He began his career with Wordpress, left and started a new blogging on the premise of preserving journalism and valuable content.
His company, Ghost.org, is a non-profit membership platform providing website building and hosting services.
The most incredible aspect is he does not own the company - the non-profit registration means he cannot sell - THIS IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE ALIGNMENT OF INCENTIVES EVER.
The platform will not go anywhere and the majority of capital generated will contractually be reinvested to further growth and development of future platform iterations.
Amazing.
The humility and dedication to a cause of John to sacrifice his right to millions from a future sale is powerful and inspiring.
He has been a digital nomad, traveling the world for over a decade and working as he goes. The company is based in Singapore, and now has a few dozen employees who all work remotely across the world.
John is an absolute legend.
His website, rediverge.com is also worth a review - he designed and coded the platform himself via ghost.
